Kazumichi Grime's latest outings sound as uploads from an ab-original databank, from something like a hard disk made of organic matter. An undefinable sense of ancienity exudes from within these soundworks. By whichever means of digital chemistry these are derived; to whatever strains the pre-digitalised material which are the building bricks of these pieces were exposed: the resultant sounds reappear like aural specimens dug up by a sonic paleontologist bent on uncovering the primal... The well known fact of the Inuits having access to more than 13 (or was it 30?) terms for 'snow' comes to mind on the apperception of this release. As the title already hints at, these tracks appear to represent a spectrum of blue both more wide and deep than ordinary english can communicate. A blue note resounding from the movement of the spheres, this is a buddhist blue - a deep-listening experience into melancholy; the sonic aura of the qualified nothingness at the essence of illumination.... A new release by Johan Gustavsson (Tsukimono, Scraps on Tape, Broken Concrete), this time appearing again under the moniker of Mnoki. "trees in movement" is his second release under this name, a work inspired by the paints of the vienan artist Egon Schiele (1890-1918). Johan's different aliases appear as different strategies for (re-)telling the digital narrative. For Mnoki, this narrative progresses in a non-linear way: at the edge of time a dam is put up to thwart the flow in favor... ( 4 reviews ) Topic: Lowercase Source: www.con-v.org
A heavenly flux; a waltz of the stars; a cosmic birdsong instantly silenced when intruded upon. Nonetheless, a probe has been secretly nested within the spheres of heaven, registering upon their resumption the movements of these electrostatic entities. Their song, strands unraveling in the weavings of time  each strand becoming, graciously, a wormhole, an inscape into the self. Thanatos, death, is stripped of its sting by this redeeming audition of the mantric self-expression laid bare in the... Topic: lowercase Source: www.con-v.org

a project by Skyapnea / Nexsound ns58 Can we use sounds to portrait someone? Can we paint using vibrating air to obtain a sound that represents something? What if sound could be used to design features belonging to other sensory spheres? Choosing a particular frequency could help to evocate a thin nose? A granular light? The fragrance of morning after a sunrise full of small rain? The taste of a coffee? All these questions were contained in a reflection about abstract music sent to nine sound... soft pieces is the artistic moniker of Washington DC area resident Zach Mason. In 1990, at the age of 13, Zach began making music with a bass guitar, cassette tapes, and assorted electronics, performing throughout the DC area and self-releasing numerous recordings in the years since. Synths and computers slowly moved from accessories to central musical tools, allowing for new sounds and techniques. Using a digital synthesizer, a small mixer patched to allow feedback, and a reverb/delay pedal,... Topics: lowercase, drone, musique concrete
The long-awaited return by laptop composer, n.kra. Wait, can I say that about myself? Awaited by me at least. Seven fragments of aural exposition that might describe distinct places, frames of mind from which we perceive music; fragmented blunted shined by memory. To induce a physically emotive response in the listener, most of the melodies are based on harmonics whose overtones create inner ear vibrations, the frequency of which are intended to affect emotional states. The louder you listen... ( 1 reviews ) Topics: Minimalism, Drones, Algorithmic, Lowercase
Archive is musique plastique by Mike Hallenbeck: an exploration of sound as margin and threshold, peripheries and parentheses, as immersion in a mutable space. The tracks "Archipelago" and "Yes" coalesce around various field recordings (Big Ben, footsteps in a museum gallery, truck motor, crowd at an outdoor festival), both untreated and processed. "Bitrate" is derived entirely from samples by Charlie DeVico (http://devico.us) and Andrew Duke... Topics: Nature, Microsound, Field Recordings, lowercase

Murmer, aka Patrick McGinley has a growing reputation as a sound manipulator. With four records under his belt - for Ground Fault, S'Agita, Absurd and Bake microlabels - he also runs the Framework show on Resonance FM. His work concentrates on framing environmental sounds which normally pass through our ears unnoticed and unremarked, but which out of context become unrecognisable, alien and extraordinary: crackling charcoal, a squeaking escalator, a buzzing insect, or one's own breath. His set... Topics: Experimental, Microsound, Soundscape, Lowercase, Field Recordings
This new electroacoustic longform piece by Andrew Latham's Ghostheory project takes Webbed Hand's "Rain" concept in a darker, more industial direction. A shifting palette of drones, clangs, inscrutable noises, and static are all blurred together into a hypnotic journey that could be either soothing or stimulating, depending on your volume settings. Andrew Latham has previously released on Webbed Hand as mayfairgrin: "Spider & The Moon" (wh035), "Pelicagnosis"... Story? It's difficult to say... Herein something purely personal is enclosed. Dense concentrate convolved to the minimum volume: hence the complexity of the penetration into it though seeming plain, inside - depth. Echoes of remembrances are implicitly soaring in the surrounding space, becoming iteratively enhanced by the memory. That was and did imprint itself in mind, but the time ruthlessly destroys images, often washing away the circumstances and details, leaving only hints. There's an own...
